Summer Leagues Registration

Registration

Registration for the summer travel season is open for all Bedford residents and Hanscom Airforce Base residents who meet the individual league qualifications. BBRBS will determine which divisions we can field teams in based on the number of registered players, their ages, and their level of play.

Fees

The cost of summer baseball is $195 and includes a registration fee of $65 (insurance + field fee + uniform). The cost of summer softball is $165 and includes a registration fee of $65 (insurance + field fee + uniform).  There is a family maximum cap of $400 per family for the season. We also have scholarships available, please contact Will Houde at   for scholarship information.

Uniforms & Equipment

Uniforms consisting of a team shirt and hat will be provided for summer leagues. Players will be required to wear baseball/softball pants, and cleats.  All players are required to bring their own baseball/softball equipment to include: glove, bat, mask, batting gloves, catcher’s equipment, batting helmet. If you do not own this equipment, please purchase and have it available prior to the first practice. If you do not have the means to purchase, please know that we have ample gently-used equipment to offer for season use.

Volunteers - Summer Managers and Coaches

If you are interested in managing or coaching this summer, please register online. Final decisions about summer managers will be made by the BBRBS board. All managers, coaches, and scorekeepers working with children need to have a CORI check done per Massachusetts state law, and must have completed the required Babe Ruth training (online).  CORI Officer, Jenny Hollman, will be in touch with all registered volunteers. Questions about volunteering can be directed to .

Summer Softball

Registration is open to all Bedford and Hanscom AFB residents who are ages 9-18 (as of January 1, 2022). Girls will compete in the Middle Essex league that is run by USA Softball.  Games are generally weekday evenings in towns in Middlesex and Essex counties. The ages for softball are U18, U16, U14, U12, and U10 and it is the age as of January 1, 2022.  We will determine how many teams we can enter and what age divisions after we see the registration numbers. There will be tryouts for summer softball, please stay tuned for dates/times.

Summer Baseball

Any boys between the ages of 8-20 (as of 5/1/22) who are interested in playing summer baseball are eligible to register. The player need not have played spring baseball. We will try to field as many teams in as many divisions as we can. Typically we have teams in the following divisions:

Senior Babe Ruth - U20 (ages 16-21) as of 5/1/22.

Our oldest baseball players will again be playing in a competitive summer league with Lexington, Arlington, Winchester, Malden, Watertown, Lynnfield, and Wakefield/Peabody (teams subject to change). Games will begin in mid- to late June and will run through early August.

Babe Ruth - U16 (ages 13-15) as of 5/1/22.

We will be fielding multiple teams in the 13-15 age group. There will be a 15-year-old Lou Tompkins All-Star team and one or two intermediate level teams as well. Tryouts will be held for this age group, time and date TBD.

Bay State All-Stars Divisions A -D (ages 9-12) as of 5/1/22.

Baystate baseball is a serious commitment including a minimum of two games midweek and most weekends in late June, July, and early August. Games begin the week of June 27. Click here for more information on Baystate baseball, including a planning tool for scheduling. We will be fielding at least two Baystate All-Star Teams this summer at the A and C levels. Baystate A will be made up of 11- and 12-year olds, and Baystate C will be 9- and 10-year olds. If numbers allow for B (10- and 11-year olds only) or D (9-year olds only) we may choose to field additional teams. Baystate teams may also compete in the Cal Ripken district tournaments that begin the weekend of June 17. Even if we do not roster a B or D level team for Baystate, we may enter teams of that age group into the District tournaments.

Tryouts for Baystate A (born between 5/1/09 - 8/31/11) will take place at Upper Davis Field on Thursday, 5/26, from 5:15-6:30.

Tryouts for Baystate C (born between 5/1/11 - 8/31/12) will take place at Page Field on Thursday, 5/26, from 7-8:15.

Middlesex Travel League

We will also be offering summer baseball for 8- through 12-year olds (by 8/31/22)on the small diamond in the Middlesex travel league. Games will be twice a week on weekdays against teams from nearby towns. No tryout will be necessary to play Middlesex baseball.
